ok, so after looking at track/race bikes and thinking about my track day plans i've changed my mind on what i'm looking for.
since I don't plan to spend a lot of time at the track, i'm looking to get into track days on a cheap bike...i'm talking no more than 2.5k and probably closer to 2. cash is in hand and ready to roll.
major change is that I'd like to have something that can still be ridden on the street. primarily because I suspect that if i get an older cheaper bike, I am going to have be able to work on the bike and check things. also, since I don't ride a sportbike everyday, it gives me the ability to get some seat time before track days.
i should clarify that i'm not looking for a project bike, I don't want to spend hours wrenching..so something that is immediately ridable and doesn't need a lot of work off the bat would be preferred. stock or mildly molested is what i'm looking for.
For all those that have posted till now, thank you for your responses....if I change my mind again, I'll know who to contact.
hit me up by pm or e-mail since I don't check barf that often. what do you got?
OLD QUERY BELOW
so I have this bike up for sale/trade:
http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=305442
it is far too pretty to be a race/track bike.
bike is sold....have cash for track bike.
looking for a 600-750cc bike to turn into a track/race bike.
i'd like to still be able to ride on the street if I get a set of stock plastics but that is not a requirement. (i don't ride a supersport on weekends, so before track days I'd like to get back into the position)
looking to spend 2000-4000 but closer to the 2000 side.
gsx-r seems to fit me well
liked the feel of my ninja
slipper clutch or available slipper clutch a huge plus
something that is already prepped (frame sliders..etc) a plus.
doesn't look like it is straight out of mad max...semi unmolested would be great
doesn't run in 110 pretty much a requirement

actually, these commonly go for MUCH more. The f4i is one of the most bullet-proof bikes ever built, and this one has been dialed to run fast. If you are looking for a bike which is mechanically fantasitic, without paying for it fancy looking paint and gold parts, this is your best bet.
My listing is also pretty discriptive

+1
Those things last forever!! I have seen Dan race this in the AFM, it is very very competitve, he's not bullsh*tting about the 5th place against the 1000cc bikes.
Doesn't look as bad as he acts like it is though
I saw it in the pits with the skins off, and it is clean and solid.

Dunno if you mind something that could use a little TLC, but you could have my FZR400 for $1000. It's already safety wired and just needs to be cleaned up a little. Former trackbike, but I have no history on it aside from the ZZ B group sticker on the windshield.

It needs a little TLC, but it's all there and it runs. I just found an SV650 which I'd rather use as a trackbike instead.

a good friend of mine (the former owner of that yellow fzr400) did that Z2 B group on that fzr400 back in July 2008 at Reno Fernley. he didnt own that bike for that long but if you're interested in more info, maybe i might be able to scavenge it. i rode it around the block, but that's it.

If you find a 600/750 for $2k unless you find an awesome deal, you're going to have to invest more $$$ to make it track worthy and maybe even street worthy. Not sure if hitmans is also street legal but @ $2600 it's not a bad deal.
