Royals host a rainy School Day at The K for area students (2024)

THE DAY. WELL, I’VE NEVER BEEN TO ONE BEFORE. SLATER FOURTH GRADER CHARLES TYREE. IT’S A LITTLE BIT RAIN. RAIN GO AWAY. I WISH THE WEATHER WAS A LITTLE BIT BETTER, BUT WHO’S KIDDING WHO THIS FIRST TIME ROYALS GAME FAN WOULD RATHER BE HERE WITH HIS PALS THAN IN CLASS ON THIS DAY, YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO WORK. NOPE. IT’S ALL PLAY AND SOME TEACHERS SAY THERE WERE NO SICK CALL OUTS THIS MORNING. YOU DIDN’T HAVE TO CONVINCE THEM TO COME. OH, NO, NO. WE HAVE ZERO KIDS ABSENT TODAY. THAT’S A MIRACLE IN ITSELF. BUT THEY SAY IT’S BEEN A LONG YEAR AND THESE KIDS DESERVE THIS. THEY DESERVE IT BECAUSE THEY WORK SO HARD ALL YEAR AND THEY DO EVERYTHING THEY NEED TO. AND WHY NOT HAVE SOME FUN AT THE END OF THE YEAR AND ACTUALLY, THERE’S SOMETHING KIND OF FUN ABOUT A DAY IN THE RAIN. FOR SOME, IT MEANS FINDING A PONCHO, MAKING SURE TO BRING A HOODIE FOR OTHERS, IT’S A LITTLE MORE CREATIVE. YOU GOT A TRASH BAG ON? YEAH, HE ADDS, IF HE WERE IN SCHOOL, I’D PROBABLY BE DOING MATH RIGHT NOW. IS THIS BETTER THAN MATH? WAY BETTER THAN MATH BROTHERS. IT’S THE SAME STORY. WE DON’T HAVE TO DO ANY WORK, AND SCHOOL’S GETTING OUT ANYWAY. SO I GUESS THIS IS A NICE LITTLE TREAT. I WOULD BE OUT OF TRACK. ME RIGHT NOW. SO THIS IS WAY BETTER THOUGH.
