Black History Month Coloring Pages (Free Printables) (2024)

The month of February is Black History Month. To mark the occasion we put together a free coloring book (four free packs) that you can print out and use with the kids.

Black History Month is a time of reflection. It’s a time to remember the incredible strides that have been made by the African American community. It’s a time to honor the people who have paved the way for us and continue to make our world a better place.

If you’re looking for an easy way to teach kids about Black history this month, you’ve come to the right place!

I’ve pulled together a collection of four different packs of colorful black history month coloring pages that are perfect for getting kids excited about learning about some of the many incredible people who have made a positive impact on our world.

These coloring sheets are a fun way to celebrate famous Black figures throughout U.S history, and notable Black Americans of the present day.

This set of black history month coloring pages are free printables to help children get their minds focused on the rich history of African Americans.

Dr Martin Luther King Jr “I have a Dream” Coloring Sheet

This black history month coloring sheet focuses on one of the most famous figures of Black American history.

Dr Martin Luther King Jr. also known as MLK for short, was a Baptist minister and activist in the American Civil Rights movement from 1955 until he was assassinated in 1968.

This coloring page has patterns to color, alongside MLK’s silhouette and famous line from his speech. Once this page is colored, it will make a beautiful poster for your classroom or home.

One of the most famous lines from the “I Have A Dream” speech is “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”

More people of color to study during Black History Month

Learning about specific people, what they went through, fought for and achieved is a great way to understand more about the rich history of Black people, in America and around the world.

Rosa Parks – Rosa Parks is a Civil Rights activist, best known for her action in the Montgomery Bus Boycott, and she refused to give up her seat for a white man.

Harriet Tubman – Harriet Tubman was an escaped enslaved woman who helped rescue many more people as conductor of the Underground Railroad.

Garrett Morgan – One of the most famous African American Inventors. He is the inventor of the traffic light system.

Barack Obama – The first Black president of the USA

Ruby Bridges – Ruby Bridges was the first Black child to attend an all white school, pushing the cause for de-segregation and civil rights at just six years old. Ruby Bridges is still alive today, and she is only 67 years old.

George Washington Carver – George Washington Carver was a famous agricultural scientist.

Jackie Robinson – Jackie Robinson was the first African American to play in Major League Baseball.

Katherine Johnson – Katherine Johnson was an amazing Mathematician for Nasa, calculating flight paths for space craft. Her amazing journey and accomplishments are documented in the movie Hidden Figures.

Sojourner Truth – Sojourner Truth was a famous abolinitionist and women’s rights activist, known for her famous speech “Ain’t I a Woman?”

Ask the kids which other inspirational Black figures they can think of, and who they want to learn more about. This list is just the beginning!
