Hello everyone,

My name is UltimoFive and today we are going over the [Kuva Zarr], The Explosive Bombarder.

  • The [Kuva Zarr] is the Kuva version of the Zarr and is obtained by either vanquishing a Kuva Lich or trading from a player a Kuva Lich that they already conquered.

  • The [Kuva Zarr] has a max rank of 40. In order to obtain this level, the player must Forma the weapon at least 5 times. Due to this feature, the player gains a total of 4,000 Mastery Points rather than 3,000. However, the builds in this guide only require 2 Forma.

  • The [Kuva Zarr] excels in Short to Long Range Combat, dealing with High Leveled enemies of all faction in Small to Extremely Large Crowds.

  • The Kuva Zarr has an Alternative Fire that Switches the weapon between Cannon-Mode and Barrage-Mode.

With this weapon the player gets an option of having a Bonus Kuva Element, which caps at 60% based of the Progenitor Warframe you choose to spawn The Kuva Lich.

My recommended Kuva Element would be:

  • Toxin - Toxin deals 50% base damage per second over 6 seconds and stacks indefinitely with each instance having its own timer.

The Kuva Zarr had some buffs when compared to the original Zarr. These stats would be:

  • Higher Base Damage at 50.0 Vs. 25.0

  • Higher Secondary Attack Damage at 673.0 Vs. 175.0

  • Higher Base and Primary Critical Chance at 25% Vs. 17%

  • Higher Base and Primary Status Chance at 31% Vs. 29%

  • Higher Fire Rate at 2.17 Rounds per Second Vs. 1.67 Rounds per Second

  • Larger Magazine at 5 Rounds

  • Smaller Max Ammo Capacity at 15 Rounds Vs. 84 Rounds

  • Slower Reload Time at 4.80 Seconds Vs. 2.25 Seconds

Cannon-Mode Advantages:

  • Cannons Explode in a 7 meter radius upon impact, then splits into 6 small bombs that rain downward from point of impact.

  • Pinpoint Accuracy

  • Initial Hit and Explosion apply Statuses separately

Barrage-Mode Advantages:

  • Innate 1.6 Meter Punch Through

  • Innate Multishot of 10 Pellets

Overall Advantages:

  • High Critical Chance Averaged at 24%

  • High Critical Multiplier at 2.5x

  • Reloads One Cannonball at a time. However it can be interrupted at any point for planned reloading.

Cannon-Mode Disadvantages:

  • Explosion and Small Bombs inflict Self-Stagger

  • Explosion and Small Bombs have Linear Damage Falloff from 100% to 30% from Impact Point

  • Projectiles have travel time with arching

Overall Disadvantages:

  • Small Magazine Size at 5 Rounds

  • Extremely Low Ammo Capacity at 15 Rounds

The Elements for the Kuva Zarr against the Corpus will be Viral/Electric. Viral amplifies health damage by 100% for 6 seconds and stacks up to 10 times for a total of 325%. Meanwhile, Electricity stuns the target for 3 seconds and deals 50% base damage per second for 6 seconds. The Build's Flex Slot is Heavy Caliber or Stormbringer and is great. I ended up testing quite a few different combinations and Viral/Electricity performed the best in both modes. However, it has very slight issues against Alloy Armor, such as the Bursa in those in the Index, but it still works fantastic and is a blast!

The Element for the [Kuva Zarr] against the Corrupted & Grineer will be Viral. The Build's Flex Slot is [Hammer Shot] and works really well. This is very close to my Tenet Envoy Grineer and Corrupted Build and the reason is due to how well it performed on the [Kuva Zarr]. It actually works better with this weapon and completely eradicates everything it touches in a Cannon or Two. This is the same in Barrage-Mode as well. About 2 shots are needed, however it is just better to go in Cannon-Mode due to the Large AOE.

Viral/Heat

The Elements for the Kuva Zarr against the Infested will be Gas or Viral/Heat. Gas deals 50% base damage per second for 6 seconds in a 3-meter radius and stacks up to 10 times for a total of 6 meters. Meanwhile, Heat deals 50% base damage per second over 6 seconds while stripping up to 50% armor and causes targets to panic. The Build's Flex Slot is Hammer Shot or Heavy Caliber and is great. To be honest, the elements are a Toss-up here and are based on preference. With both builds doing just as good as the other. However, as always I prefer Gas just because of the Large Gas Clouds it leaves behind that kills off Low Tiered Enemies in a Tick or Two.

  • Galvanized Chamber - In place of Split Chamber if you have access to the mod through Arbitration and want to take the Weapons Damage to the next level.

  • Galvanized Scope - In place of [Critical Delay] if you have access to the mod through Arbitration and want to take the Weapons Damage to the next level. However, it is easier to use Barrage Mode in order to get the stacks, then switch back to Cannon Mode.

  • Vigilante Supplies or (Primed) Rifle Ammo Mutation - In place of having no Exilus Mod. This will cost 1 more Forma in order to have, but can help with Ammo for the weapon, considering that it draws Ammo from the Sniper Pool.

  • Cryo Rounds - In place of Primed Cryo Rounds if you don't have it.

  • Bane Mods - In place of their Primed Counterparts if you don't have them.

  • Point Strike - In place of Critical Delay if you don't want the Negative Fire Rate and are okay with losing a bit of Critical Chance.

  • Heavy Caliber - In place of Primed Bane of Grineer or Corrupted if you don't like using Faction Mods.

  • Bladed Rounds - In place of [Hammer Shot] if one doesn't have it.

There are several ways to enhance Critical Stats, Damage, and Utility for this weapon:

Damage:

  • Rhino's Roar adds bonus damage.

  • [Nova]'s Molecular Prime makes all sources of damage increase by 100% against primed enemies, on top of that they will detonate upon death dealing blast damage.

  • Mirage's Eclipse mixed with her Hall of Mirrors adds a massive damage bonus during the day or in light.

  • Saryn's Toxic Lash mixed with her Spores abilities.

  • Equinox's Rest & Rage in Day Form makes targets more vulnerable to Damage.

  • Wisp's Haste Reservoir bolsters fire rate, in turn increasing DPS.

  • Chroma's Vex Armor when Health gets damaged increases Weapon Damage.

Critical Stats:

  • Harrow's Covenant can add up to 50% Critical Chance and 200% on headshots.

  • Volt's Electric Shield when shot through adds a 200% Critical Damage Multiplier.

  • Zephyr's Passive increases Critical Chance by 150% while airborne.

  • Adarza Kavat with Cat's Eye can give a 60% Critical Chance boost.

  • Smeeta Kavat with Charm can give a 200% Crit Chance.

Utility:

  • [Gauss]' Redline grants a Fire Rate and Reload Speed Buff which can help counteract the weapons Slow Fire Rate and Reload Speed Stats.

  • Chroma's Elemental Ward when in Toxin alignment grants a Reload Speed and Holstering Speed Buff.

  • Volt's Speed grants a Reload Speed Buff.

  • Arcane Rage - Upon getting Headshot, 15% chance for 180% Damage to Primary Weapons for 24 seconds. However, this Arcane is more easily triggered in Barrage Mode.

  • Arcane Avenger - Upon being damaged, 21% chance for 45% Critical Chance for 12 seconds.

  • Arcane Primary Charger - On Melee Kill, 30% chance for 300% damage to Primary Weapons for 12 seconds.

  • Arcane Arachne - On Wall Latch, 150% Damage for 30 seconds.

Primary Arcane

  • Primary Merciless - On Kill 30% Damage for 4 seconds, which stacks up to 12 times and comes with 30% Reload Speed and 100% Max Ammo. This Arcane I would say is more beneficial to the [Kuva Zarr] due to increased Max Ammo and Reload Speed. However, if one does want to use Primary Deadhead that would be okay, but you have to use Barrage Mode in order to get the stacks, then switch back to Cannon Mode.

When you get your hands on a Riven for this weapon the Flex Slot to replace will be what was previously discussed before. This can require 1 more Forma and in order to maximize Damage output with Kuva Zarr, one will need to get lucky and get some nice stats. These stats would be:

  • Ideal Stats - The Ideal Stats would be; Damage, Critical Chance, Critical Damage, and Negative Zoom or Weapon Recoil.
