Hooray for the 100th day of school! We’re celebrating with activities themed with the number 100.
I like to fill our 100th day of school with fun activities that incorporate math, reading, and writing.

Candy Experiment
Students will see if they can get to the center of a lollipop in 100 licks. After each lick, students place can color or place an X over each number to help them keep track. When they get to the center, they circle that number.
Supplies Needed: Tootsie Pops/Blow Pops/Lollipops, Recording Sheet
Coin Flip 100 Times
Students flip a coin 100 times. After each flip, they will record whether it landed on heads or tails. Students will color heads blue, and tails green. Then, they count the total number of times it landed on heads, and the total number of times it landed on tails.
Supplies Needed: 1 Coin for each student (I used plastic coins from our math manipulatives), Recording Sheet
Roll a Dice 100 Times
Students will roll a 6-sided dice 100 times. After each roll, students record the number in each box. Then, they will color based on the code provided. Finally, they will write the totals for each number.

Roll Two Dice 100 Times
Students will roll two, 6-sided dice 100 times. After each roll, students will add the 2 dice together, and record the sum in each box. Then, they will color based on the code provided.
100th Day of School Picture Hunt
Students can decide on a color for each item, then look for that item. For example, students will search for 1 snowflake, 2 rainbows, 9 pieces of candy, and so on based on the activity sheet.

100 Ways to Make 100
Students will write 100 equations that equal 100. This can be completed based on the needs of your students. For example, it could be all addition, all subtraction, or a combination of both.

How Many Make 100?
Students can use fake money or draw pictures to show how many of each type of coin to make 100 cents ($1.00) and how many will make $100.

What Can You Do in 100 Seconds?
For each activity, students will write an estimate for how many (jumping jacks, sit-ups, squats, etc.) they can complete. Then the teacher will set a timer for 100 seconds. Students will complete as many “reps” as they can in 100 seconds. After the timer goes off, students will record the actual number completed, and then find the difference between their estimate and the actual number.

100 Words I Know
Read, “I’ll Teach My Dog 100 Words” and then explain that students will write 100 words they know how to read and spell. I always let students use resources around the room if they get stuck.

100 People at My School
Students could either ask for signatures, or could write down people that they know. This is especially fun if you have a grade level get-together, or students could even take it to recess or lunch.

I Would Want 100 / I Would Not Want 100
Students can brainstorm what they would like to have 100 of, and what they would not like to have 100 of. This makes a great brainstorming activity if you plan on using the writing activity that goes along with this.

When I’m 100 Years Old 4-Square
Students can brainstorm what they’ll want to eat, what activities they’ll like to do, what activities they won’t like to do, and what they think they’ll look like when they’re 100 years old.
One Hundred – Word Building
Students create words using the letters found in “one hundred.” Students can sort their words based on how many letters each has.
Supplies Needed: One Hundred sheet, letter sets on colored paper
100th Day of School Snack
Provide or ask for donations for students to be able to create their own 100th day of school snack.
Students will count 10 of each snack item and place it inside a circle on their placemat. The following items work well:
- marshmallows
- m&m’s
- pretzel sticks
- grapes
- raisins
- goldfish crackers
- cheerios
- fruit loops
- lucky charms
- smarties
- jelly beans
- gummy bears
- skittles
- sour patch kids
- cheez-its
- raw baby carrots

100th Day of School Necklace
Students can make a necklace using fruit loops, beads, cheerios, or even paper scraps.
To help students keep track, I like to provide 10 ten-frames students can fill. Once all of the ten-frames are filled, students can start stringing their items

100th Day of School Self-Portrait
I love for students to draw a self-portrait of themselves for the 100th day of school. Students could either draw themselves as they are currently, or could draw what they think they’ll look like at 100 years old.

100 Books for the 100th Day of School
As a class, it’s fun to set aside some time (if you’re class can handle 100 minutes that’s perfect) to try to read 100 books. As students finish a book they can add the title to the 100 Books chart.
You could even combine classes, or start this activity on the first day of school and record read alouds throughout the year to see if you can get to 100 books by the 100th day of school.
